Are all walkers DBS checked?
Walkers on Barkevo can complete a basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. The verified badge only appears on a profile after we have confirmed the certificate — so if you see the badge, it's real. Some newer walkers may be listed while their check is in progress, which is clearly labelled.
Is my payment protected?
Your payment is held securely by Stripe and only released to the walker after the walk is completed. If a walker cancels or doesn't show up, you get a full refund automatically.
How quickly can I get a booking?
Many walkers on Barkevo offer same-day availability. Once you pick a slot, the walker is notified instantly. Walkers with the ⚡ badge confirm bookings automatically — no waiting.
Can I message a walker before booking?
Yes. You can send a message or request a free meet & greet directly from any walker's profile — no booking or payment needed to get started.
What is Barkevo's fee?
Barkevo charges owners a 5% booking fee. Walkers pay a 15% platform fee when they complete a walk. There are no subscription fees for either side.
