Frequently asked questions
Is there a sign-up fee?
No. Barkevo is completely free to join. We only take a 15% platform fee when you earn — so if you don't walk, you don't pay anything. That's significantly lower than Wag (40%).
Do I need a DBS check?
It's not mandatory but strongly recommended. Walkers with a verified DBS badge get significantly more bookings as owners prioritise safety.
How do I get paid?
You connect your bank account via Stripe during setup. Once you mark a booking as complete, funds are transferred within 2 business days — no invoicing needed.
Can I set my own prices?
Yes, completely. You set your hourly rate and it applies to all your bookings. You can change it anytime from your profile settings.
What areas can I cover?
You set a primary area and up to 3 additional areas you're willing to travel to. Clients search by borough so being specific helps.
Do I need insurance?
We strongly recommend holding public liability insurance for pet services. You can declare this on your profile and it shows as a badge to owners.
