Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
What data we collect
We collect information you provide directly (name, email, profile photo, payment details) and information generated by your use of the Service (booking history, messages, GPS location during active walks, device information).
How we use your data
We use your data to provide and improve the Service, process payments, send booking confirmations and notifications, detect fraud, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
GPS and location data
Location data is collected only when a Walker explicitly starts a walk tracker session. This data is shared with the booking's Owner in real time and stored for 30 days after the booking ends, then permanently deleted.
Payment data
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Barkevo does not store your full card details. Please refer to Stripe's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment information.
Data sharing
We share data with Stripe (payments), Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Vercel (hosting and aggregate analytics), Resend (transactional email — booking confirmations and notifications are sent through it), and Sentry (error monitoring — if something goes wrong, technical error reports may include your user ID and device information). All providers are GDPR-compliant. We may disclose data to law enforcement if required by law.
How long we keep your data
Account and profile data is kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account. Booking records and payment records are kept for 6 years after the booking, as required for UK tax and accounting purposes. Messages are kept while both accounts remain active. GPS walk-tracking data is deleted 30 days after the booking ends. Verification documents (DBS, insurance, licences) are kept while you remain an active walker and deleted when your walker profile is removed.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email hello@barkevo.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
